I'm curious aswell.

OK, guys can correct me if I'm wrong. I just replaced my parking brakes. The only adjustment I see is a "star" wheel inside the drum parking brake assembly. There is no exterior cable adjustment that I saw on quick look. There is supposed to be an adjustment port or hole in the backing plate but mine is closed off - it looks like the metal knock out plugs on metal electrical boxes. My apporach is to adjust as best I can while assembling the brakes by moving the star adjuster to just barely hear the scraping shoes. There is another hassle you'll have with word rotors on the rear. My advice is to always replace these when doing a rear brake job.

Good luck!

I agree. I believe the star is the only adjustment. I wanted to adjust mine a while back because they did not work only to find out that they need replacement. I replaced mine myself which is NOT FUN!!! I wouldnt even try unless you have someone to help you when you get frustrated. LOL

Port on my 02 was closed off also.
I replaced all the hardware with the new pads. It was a pain pain pain pain.
If you can't get the disc off just follow the manual instructions and put the drill bit in the parking brake foot pedal setup. Just grab the cable under the truck and pull. You will see the geared section of the parking assembly move and not the pedal. You put in a small screwdriver or something into the side hole to keep the geared part from coming back under tension. Your brake cable will now hang loose. Also disconnect the cable end from the parking brake over the wheels. I did that and my disc/drum assembly slid right off.
