Adrenalin wheel problem!!

I got my truck back tonight with 4 new wheels, new tpms sensors etc...very pleased. finish looks top notch, lets hope they stay that way.

the truck came with the weights on the outer lip from the factory (which sucks) but the dealer put the stick on weights on the back, so that was a bonus too.

The factory shipped them with tires? Or does Ford balance the rims themselves first? Curious...

That's what I was thinking but I doubt it.

Sorry I mean when the truck was built the original tires had the weights on the rim lip. the dealer put my old tires on the new wheels with the stick on weights. Sorry I was misleading.

I have the same wheels on my 09 Explorer Sport.. Sad to say the same thing has happened to mine..

Just got back from the dealer and service mgr is going to talk to the ford rep tomorrow..

Gonna have him do the same thing with the weights.

If they give me any gripe... I have raised hell with ford before and got warranty work done real fast..Made a call to Bill Fords office, no i did not get to talk to him..talked to a executive on his floor and surprisingly what was going to take another 2 weeks to fix only took 2 days...

man, how many miles do you have? I remember seeing pics of your new ride not too long ago. hasnt even seen winter yet right?

I have 2200 miles not one winter. I am anxious to see what the dealership says tomorrow. I will let you guys know.

I do plan on getting a set of steelies and some blizacks for winter..

I stopped by the dealer yesterday I am bring it in on friday for a rep from ford to look at it and make the decision if they will replace them. The service manager says it should not be a problem but he wants to find out what is causing this. I told him about this site and that several guys from around the country have had the same problem. Then again they only produced 6000 trucks so I am hoping it is just a manufacturing problem I don't want to have to go back in 6 months for new wheels.

I just got word yesterday, The service MGR wanted to talk to the Ford rep also..Told me the rep would be their this Friday then he would have an answer. After he told me last Friday..

So yesterday I get a phone call, wife answers it, said they ordered my wheels and will call me when they get in.

So either the rep came early or they know of the issue... I will find out more when I get them installed.

Just got back from the dealer..not to many nice of words for the service people their...:thumbdwn:

As far as the wheels they look great. Their in a lot better shape then the original ones.

They mounted the lip weights to the inside of the wheels so no more nasty weights on the outside!!!

Overall happy with the new product:thumbsup:..not so happy with the service guy who went as far as mounting, balancing, and taking my wheels back to my truck then deciding to take a lunch......I guess he was really hungry...:thumbdwn:

yeah well I went back to the dealer but the rep got hung up at another dealer and never came so i have to wait till she comes back next month.

Well Ford finally graciously agreed to replace two of the wheels. I was like "WHAT" ok so you replace two under warranty but not the other two. Dealer said ford told them it was the road salt. It wasn't, but even if it was they are under warranty make a better product. I am so pissed at Ford the dealer is stepping up and covering the other 2 wheels so I am getting four new ones. It's just the point how do you cover only two wheels. I'm writing them a letter my last 5 vehicles have been ford or mercury. They better get their **** together or my business goes bye bye.

Bender that is exactly what happened to my wheels not as bad as yours but then again i only have 5000 miles on them. So as I suspected with time it will only get much worse. I agree it is the clear coat and I am going to tell them to use the sticky weights as well. I just have not gotten around to going to the dealer yet maybe Monday.

Had my rims replaced under warranty too. The hub centers looked exactly like Bender's photos. My dealer had no problem replacing them. I put new Pirellis on at the same time. My white Adrenalin is looking HOT again! :D

I was thinking about getting these wheels for my 09 ST to replace the factory 17" wheels. Mabe I won't now.....hmmmm

I have a 2009 STA and my wheels look perfect. It seems like it was a quality control issue that is most likely solved by in later productions.

Well my wheels have held up under a horrible winter and many storms I do believe my issue was a manufacturing error. It may have been a bad batch that went out.

Same thing here...

I've had the same problem with the wheels on my MY07 ST Ltd, and on the aluminum wheels on my last truck, a Ranger. I did have all the wheels replaced under warranty at 36k miles, but the same thing is happening to the new ones. Whether it be salt or whatever, Ford puts out really crappy wheels and should really get it together here. Never get anything except chrome from the OEM. We should get a class action suit together..lol

I have had the same problem with my 2010 Adrenalin. We took it to dealer and they took pictures and sent them to Ford. After about a month Ford gave ok for replacements, but wheels were on backorder, so after a 3 month wait I get my new ones this week.

This is caused due to poor clear coating. Where the clear coat is not thick enough (or not present), moisture gets under and the aluminum begins to corrode. The marks you see are advanced stages of corrosion. The fact that it progresses under the clear coat also is why you cannot (always) feel the marks or correct them by buffing.

Glad to hear Ford is covering them under warranty.

Yeah great to hear, however they replaced mine last year and guess what the white lines are coming back. Not as bad as before but I am just really dissapointed in the quality of these wheels.

16 inch

My 2007 XLT 16 inch wheels have the same marks. I'm out of warranty but will still post some pics if anybody wants to see them. I'm thinking of getting aftermarket non-chrome wheels but I'm scared of dropping lots of cash and then have them get ruined my the winter salt.
