Hi all:

I need some advice buying a jump box for my 1996 (stock) Explorer Sport (4.0 L V6). I know I could jump it, but I'd like to have a jump box for emergencies anyway. Do I just need to know the required CCAs and then buy an appropriate that can output that many CCAs?

I'm not sure how that works, usually when you jump a car the battery isn't completely dead so the full cca's wouldn't be needed, but in an emergency you would prolly want full power because you never know what could go wrong.

Mine has 450 amps I believe, as well as a 400watt power inverter and air compressor. Its nice. Doesn't turn it over as fast as the battery but I have jumped mine and many others just fine. And I jumped my car probably a dozen times in a 2 day stretch when my battery was toast and it did fine.

Thanks. I just bought a Peak 300 A system. I looked at the Black & Decker 500 A, but it seemed liked overkill. The Peak has a compressor, too. I hope it has enough "oomph" to get it going. We will see.
