I am wanting to add minor mods to my 08 Trac 4.6 Limited 4x. I need advice on cold air intake, exhaust recommendations and maybe an intake. All advice or suggestions welcomed. I travel most of the time (live in South Eastern US and work Western) and little time to research parts and mods. May do some wheels too. Thanks.

As far as I know, the only cat-back exhaust for 07-up Sport Tracs is from Gibson. I have a Gibson on my V6 and like it. It was pretty easy to install.
www.zabteck.com has cold a air intake for the V8. Nobody has one for my V6 though. :-(

Any good cai (k/n,etc), and replacing stock muffler and resonator with a good qualtiy muffler (flowmaster, etc) will make it more responsve, sound nicer, and should gain you a little mpg's. I did the muffler (sounds great,no drone), and cheated a little by using a k/n drop in filter and moding the bottom of the stock air box, it has a grid tipe molded pattern inside, there is a couple drain holes in it, i matched a drill bit to that size and simply drilled a hole in every square (please take bottom out of truck to do this as there is some wires under it!!!) more air!. Like i said it feels more responsive, sounds great, and our mpg's went up at least 2! Cost was very resonable for everything.

Muffler-$109
install muffler-$60
k/n drop in-$40
air box mod-1/2 hr.time
chrome tip-$6

I'm pretty positive Magnaflow also makes a catback. I just bought a Magnaflow SS muffler, had a local shop cut the old one out, put new one in. I then had another shop cut the huuuge resonator (1st muffler) off and weld an aluminized straight pipe in. It now sounds like a real V8 should. It's quite loud.

For air intakes, about the only choices are K&N complete kit (replaces all piping, etc.), or KKM (replaces airbox/MAF housing - leaves stock piping).

For the 2007+ Sport Trac 4.6 V8:
K&N Aircharger #63-2573

For the 2007+ Sport Trac 4.6L V8 (except Adrenalin):
Magnaflow catback exhaust system #16679

I have both on my '08 XLT 4x4, and I have no regrets.

SCT x3 Power Flash tuner (Torrie at Unleashed Tuning\Fast Parts Network is the best). This mod pulled it all together so far.

I hear good things about the Zabteck throttle body mod. It is my understanding that Zabteck no longer is selling the nocturnal cold air intake.

Actually it is Nocturnal that isn't selling the Nocturnal intake. Zabteck took over producing and selling it (according to Zabteck's website).

Damn, I coulda had a V8.

I stand corrected. I was recalling a discussion from Todd Z over on another forum awhile back about those CAI's and Nocturnal and not carrying them. The Zabteck Performance website looks like they are selling them. Thanks for that correction Johnny O.

"**DISCONTINUED**" (Bold RED letters on top of page)

They are no more. The Nocturnal intake is no longer available anywhere. I don't know why it's even on their website still?

Why did they discontinue it?

I dunno, underneath the **DISCONTINUED** it says that Nocturnal is allowing Zabteck to produce and sell it. I'm not trying to start an argument, I just see what I read.

Search on http://www.mysporttrac.com/mysporttrac/:

"All Zabteck Customers and those interested in the Zabteck CAIs and Nocturnal intakes.

Zabteck is sad to announce we are no longer making ANY intakes; this includes the Zabteck and Nocturnal lines.

We just don't have the time to make them anymore. The costs of material, storage space, and availability of parts also does not help.

We don't think anyone wants to take on the process of making these themselves or making them for sale.

The process is not hard, but very time consuming.

We thank you all that purchased the product and supported Zabteck.

This is not a sign of anything to come. We just do not have the time to put towards the intake line any more.

George and Todd"

+1 Magnaflow.. great sound.. only ones better are Borla, but you'd have to buy the mufflers and get custom tubing done..

CAIs are east to do, you can make your own with a universial K&N or AIRRAID.. heck you can probably get most of the parts from pepboys...
