I've searched the website and got a little insight on a couple of mods I would like to do. But most of the info is old, so just wanna do a poll here to see if anything has changed.

I guess first off I should say what I WANT from the mods, basically I want more HP and torque from a few bolt-on components. (hell dont we all right?) And heres my info, '98 Explorer XLT 4.0

A Screamin Demon Coil pack, a few people said on here they were really good, however when I looked at their website I do not see an application that fits mine.

Headers would be nice, but with RH drive, I would probably need custom made ones.

Any other suggestions would be great!

Ok I was able to find a Screamin Demon coil that will work,..... Part Number 31738 in case you wanted to know, thats for all 4.0 OHV and 98-2001 4.0 SOHC.

Does anyone have any info on the SCT tuner? Or any other item that will gain more HP that bolts on?

Most that have SCT tuners and tunes got them from James at Henson Performance. He is a vendor on this site. Everyone raves about his customer service. Definately do a cold-air intake and cat-back exhaust (or whatever other exhaust mods you want) before the tuner. Also, people have installed underdrive pulleys and electric cooling fans to make the engine more efficient and free up some HP.

Search threads by Aldive, he did alot of different mods and documented them very well.

This is some great advice. I would forget about the headers since they seem to be a better option for the v8 guys. I know aldive always recommend the underdrive pullies and electric fan as one of the best hp mods you can do. Also forget the screamin deamon coil packs since there are mods that will be give you better bang for you buck.

Ya I found the Henderson Performance thread and put in a question for him there. As for the cold air intake.....I want to do something like that only I would prefer a snorkel. The sand here is an EXTREMELY fine powdery white sand. So I would rather have the intake up high, the problem is I havent been able to find anyone that makes one for the Ex. And thx for the info on the pullys and fan....will be checking his threads for it.

Check the slack in the throttle cable, maybe a bigger throttle body.

I forget the name, but yes I was reading a thread a guy posted on the fix for the throttle cable not fully opening and installing a larger throttle body. Has anyone else installed a 75mm and can show good results from it?

From what I've seen, snorkels are costume jobs.

I ran with 70mm Ford Racing Throttle body. The difference wasn't huge but the acceleration was noticeable.
