I have a '02 XLT 4.6L with 83K. About a month ago the #7 spark plug shot out while driving and pulled the threads with it. Was out of state and dealer repaired it with a helicoil insert. Truck drove fine for about 3K and now has MIL code for #7 missfire. I still have to do some tests but I am sure I will be needing to replace the head. First, do you really have to pull the engine to replace a head on these vehicles? If so, can someone give me a quick reason why its nesessary? With 83K, is it a good idea to replace both or can I replace one and get away without any problems? Does anyone know of a good place to get reman heads from? Sorry for all the questions in a row but trying to get an idea of what I may have to do. Thanks.
