My 2006 Mountaineer has a strange one...I went thru a self service car wash last week and the wrench lite came on as it was rinsing my wheels. I reset it and drove to work. It wouldn't start after that. Had it towed...mechanic said it was throwing of P1707 code. Mecatronics error. Had it towed to the tranny shop...they replaced mecatronics. Got it back...a little rough shifting but running. Took it to the car wash today...WRENCH lite again! Something is getting wet as it rinses my wheels. Same code P1707. Has anyone else had an issue with this? This time after I let it sit for a while the code dissappeared and it started.

Sounds like you need to check all of the ABS sensor connectors. One of them must be loose and is allowing water to get into the connection and shorting it out.
