I guess I'm looking to do the reverse, it looks like a common question on here is how to hook up the factory amp to an aftermarket radio. I'm actually looking to hook up a kenwood amp to the factory radio, does anyone know if this is possible? It's for a 10-inch sub I'm trying to run.

The car is a 2008 EB with Sync, it does not have Nav, or a factory sub. It may even have a factory amp, I'm not too familiar with the factory systems.

Since there are no external outputs on the radio, I guess the only way would be to splice into the rear speakers? I'm just wondering if anyone has tried something like that. Anyone know if there are wiring diagrams online I could buy?

Thanks

try this http://www.metraonline.com/part/70-5521 this part could help you although i don't know the specs of your EB but i guess they should have a solution y just bought a converter for my explorer so i can put on an aftermarket radio and had no trouble just plugged it in and connected the wires to the aftermarket radio and that's it, hope this helps

Thanks for the info! I'm not sure if that will help, though. That looks like it's for hooking up an aftermarket radio to the factory harness, I'm looking to do the opposite. I just wish they had better descriptions on their site

Just wire a hi-lo converter in from behind the radio.

if you purchase that harness you are wasting money. it has nothing with what you are trying to do.

Sounds like a cool idea... I would like to get a cleaner sound of my factory set, but don't want to loose the DVD integration.

That's a good idea, I never thought of that, thanks! I just did a search in the audio forum for "converter" and see a lot of hits. I just thought I would post in this forum cause I don't see a lot going on in there for the 2006+ explorers.
