This is probably a stupid question, but are their any aftermarket fog bulbs (just bulbs) that are better than stock, and if so what are they called and where can I find them?

Thanks.

go to any store that sells automotive parts...Kragen, Napa, Sears, ur local tire store.. Ask someone at the counter and they'll help you find wut ur looking for.

All I could fine were replacements. They probably are better, but I thought e-bay had the hyper-white fogs, but I don't think for our '97s with the square fogs.

Best bet is to replace for something better.

the square fog lamp bulb numbers are 9006

One word of caution...

Be careful if you get the higher wattage bulbs- they look great, but they kick out high heat.

Higher-wattage=higher-heat=melted housings.

I had to change both of my headlight housings, fogs would do the same thing...since the housing is plastic.

Stay with the same watt bulb, just get the Hyper-White...it'll be whiter light, but it won't be any brighter.

thats true.. this morning I went through a couple deep puddles and My bottom stock lamps went out.. water leaked in and blew my bulbs.. I have to spend another 40 bucks..ERR.. 20 bucks i could of used on a car wash and 20 bucks i could of used on GAS!!!!

I don't think all the bulbs for at least the '97 are the same

Headlights are 9007, but fogs are wierd. Like H3 or 889 or something

i dunno.. I had a hard time finding my fog lamp bulb numbers.. asking around in this forum.. I was told they were h3's or 900 or something.. but then when i went to take out my bulb it was a 9006.. Maybe mynes different because myne is a Mountaineer..

I just got these: BLUE XENON FOGLITES FORD EXPLORER 93-98 HID off of ebay. For only $15 with shipping... they put out a lot of light.

Here's a link.. it seems this guy has a lot: Dead Link Removed

Sure probably not the top of the line, but for my application they worked and they have a lifetime war'nty. Here's a shot I took of my truck last night. You can get an idea of the brightness and color.

I tried the Sylvania Cool Blues before and did not like them. I just put the Silverstars in. They're not too bad. I want brighter and bluer though.. I know dream on without spending the $$$.

Well I just bought a pair off of ebay like rafairchild2's got for around 15 bucks. Hopefully they'll get here quickly in a couple of days. I'm anxious to see how they do...I've got a few road trips I'm making this week. When I get them I'll update you and see how they do. Thanks all for your help.

I got a pair of F1 885's off of Ebay because they're rated at 55w instead of the 899's 37.5w (stock wattage). They're a lot brighter and actually have a purpose instead of just for looks. I highly reccommend them!! I think I have a couple of pics here. But I dont' have them in the server but I'll post some pics probably tomorrow.
