I have been recently driving around and whenever i push the gas my X ticks underneath between the driver & passenger sides. I have driven my X about 3k miles now...and i bought off a private seller before that. So Im not quite sure when he changed the oil... I have mad plans to get it changed, but do you think its cause of the oil being bad...or is my transmission ****** or something? :(

Mud!

I had the same annoying ticking, it turned out to be a loose spark plug. Tightened it, now it is a quiet as the day I bought it.

I just plugged a leak in the exhaust manifold, rear cylinder ,drivers side, that made the loud ticking go away now all I can here is the lifter / rocker arm ticking. These trucks tend to have lots of little ticking noises. GOOD LUCK FINDING YOURS

Howdy!!

I too had a strange ticking noise come from my engine. It only happened when the car was in gear and when I pressed on the accelerator. When I took it to get serviced, they said it was a faulty EGR Valve. Maybe that could be it. I got it replaced under the emissions 50K mile warranty.

So nobody thinks its jus bad oil huh...how much should i start saving to get it fixed...and how much is a checkup on a vehicle, this is my first car...so i dont know that much about servicing and what not. :-P

Find out what type of oil is in there. As in the weight, 5W-30 or 10W-30 are typical. Probably you don't know since you just bought it.

Sometimes 10W-30 can quiet a lifter tic tic tic if that's what it is. Often the 4.0 engine with 100,000 miles or more gets worn lifters that are noisy.

The 4.0 OHV is known for being a fairly noisy engine though--just take that into account.

Yeah....my truck only has 63k miles on it...but i havnt got an oil change yet :( , and ive driven about 3000 miles, and i dont know how long the guy before me went without one.
