Hello all. I recently removed my carpet and seats on my 03 xlt. Pressure washed my carpet, reinstalled it and reinstalled a new set of leathers out of an 05. After i plugged them in an bolted them down the air bag light is now on? Could this be related to anything i had done? Is there anything i can do to reset it?? Unplug and plug a fuse? Disconnect the battery then connect it again? HELPPPPPPPP..i'm leaving on saturday and don't want to bring it back to the dealership where i bought it on Monday 5/21/07.

I remember reading on my service manual/CD where you are supposed to disarm the airbag before removing the seats or seatbelts I think.I'm not on my regular home pc right now so I don't have it handy to look.If someone doesn't answer your question before I can get to my disc I will try to look it up and see what it said about it.

thanks alot! Its 1:13 in the morning lol...i'm gonna go try this now..I hope it works, I wasn't given a manual with mine so i wouldnt have known. Ill let you guys know. thanks!

I unplugged the yellow plugs and tried cleaning the plugs with alcohol.Maybe i need to do a better job..i'll try again when the suns out. Any other thoughts? I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and say that this is the problem seeing that it was fine when i bought it on monday and i had taken my cloth seats out twice since monday and put them back in (so i could atleast drive it while the carpet sat in the sun drying) and it gave me NO problem. Any suggestions on how to clean the plugs?? i dont think it'd hurt if i dipped the whole plastic clip into a cup of alochol since i cant get into the plug with a q tip.

If the cleaning doesnt work i might just cut the plug in the my old cloth seats and put mine back in. I dont want to have to drive 1 hr to the dealership where i bought it and leave it there while i'm gone..It took them 7 days to get it to me and it looked like crap after they "detailed" it.

Are there resistors in both ends of the plugs or just on the end connected to the seats?

Thanks, that helped. I'm going to try cleaning them again. If that doesn't work i'm going to swap the plugs. Hopefully this is it though. Does make sense considering it was fine when i had my cloth seats in but once i swapped the leather seats it started doing it. thanks

Here is the part I read in the manual that I was thinking of,
Note:
If a seat equipped with a seat mounted side airbag (if equipped) system or a safety belt pretensioner (if equipped) system is being diagnosed or repaired, the supplemental restraint system must be deactivated.

Note:
No restraint system diagnostic tool is available for the safety belt buckle pretensioners. If the ignition switch is set to the RUN or START position with the pretensioner electrical connector disconnected, the DTC(s) for an open circuit will be activated.

I'm not sure if that applies or what you do afterwards if it does.

How do i get the plug from under the seat off??
