the supplemental restraint light(the seat with the air bag) is flashing 3-6. i tried to find what that means but could not find it anywhere on here. also my horn stopped working. anyone know whats up?
just found this on a ford trucks website kinda like EF
36 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition
36 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground
36 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance High .
36 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low
anyone know what to do with this info, i have no idea:scratch:
As far as I know the air bag system is fairly simple. There are 2 sensors on the front of the vehicle around the radiator and bumper and probably a fuse or relay. I would think those sensors are defective. Since the actual bags are housed inside they are mostly likely OK. You want to be careful when working with these as a few volts could pop the bag in your face. always disconnect the battery and wait 10 mins before working with the airbags. you can also take the bag out for a visual inspection, takes 5 minutes, 2 screws on the steering wheel behind rubber plugs. that is a start
I have the exact same problem, I took it to the ford dealer and they said it was a short in the wire leading to the horn but they didnt electrical test anything and they wanted like $300 to put a whole new horn assembly in. I had plans of looking for the short myself but never got around to it. If you find out what th actuall problem is id appreciate it if youd let me know.

as for shorts and whatnot, like i said i read about this on a ford trucks site similar to this and some guy had this problem as well. another person mentioned moving the seat up and down fixed it on his vehicle and i have heard many people mention other codes being related to the wires under the seat o i will start there. im probably going to dig into it this week to see if i can find a wire that got smashed or shorted out of something. i would still appreciate any additional advice anyone has to offer.
i suppose another place to start is the air bag since my horn doesnt work maybe its a problem in the steering wheel.
I would venture to guess that your Ribbon Cable is broken/cracked. It is just behind the air bag. You don't even need to pull the steering wheel to replace it....get one at the wrecking yard. They are cheap. and easy to get to. Just remove the 2 screws on the sides of the steering wheel. And pull the airbag out. And it is right there.
make sure you take the proper "steps" when playing around / near the air.... you don't want your head / face to be "launched/burned" fixing a "little old wiring issue".
i had this this problem 3 or 4 months ago one day i go to drive it i always beep when i leave my home and the horn did not work notic the air bag light was on and cruse did not work. looked in my 2 vol. explorer / mounty dealers shop manuel. and it was a bad clock spring. it is under the steering wheel. went to the advanced auto zone and they told me it was a dealers part i forget how much it was. first disconet the battery for how long i dount know. the first time i did it . i did not know you were spos to unhook the battery first. then use a stering wheel puller to remove the wheel. then theres yor clock sping. push the clip and pull it off. if i remember right there are two wire coneters. remove them and install your new clock sping and then put it all back to gether. your mounty or explorer may handel or run a littel different for the first 10 milles till your computer relearns it driveing habets. hopes this helps you
