Air bag warning light comes on (99 XLT)

Just bought a 99 XLT 4.0L and noticed today that the airbag warining light is blinking intermittently. It blinks a series of 3 blinks , pause , then 7 blinks that a longer pause and then it starts all over. I've disconnected the battery for 5 minutes but the blinking is still occuring.

Any thoughts or advice?

One common problem is the side impact air bags.
Even if you don't have them you will still have a connector under the seat. It is a yellow connector.
Pull the cap off and blow in there a few times, give it a little giggle and put the cap back on.
I know it sounds a little primative but it worked for me and others here.

If that does not do the trick you will need to find a body shop that has an SRS code reader.

I unplugged all plugs under both driver and passenger and blew out with an air compressor...... NO MORE AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING!!

Thanks Momix, dealer here wanted $70.00 just to "check and see what's going on"
