Ok so here goes

When i first got my X the aircon was ace but shortly after it stopped working and i have just not got round to getting it re-gassed. Today i got it done at KF and they gassed/oiled it and all that jazz. Even the machine told them how much they had put it but no luck. The compressor does not even klick in at all. I have changed the relays and fuses and still no luck

Now here is the interesting part when i turn the aircon on with the switch at the heater i.e. turn it left there is nothing great or noticable, however when i turn it right it hisses like there is a gas release, similar to a bus/lorry parking (not as loud but psssssssht noise)

Does anyone have any ideas on a starting point of how i can fix it????

Phil

Is the drive belt to the compressor ok, the pully working, does the clutch engage when you turn the ac on, does the compressor turn?

If yes to all the above mate- check the switch gear behind the controls, first to see if all is as it should be........

That hissing is just the air direction flaps moving I would say as they work on a vacuum system.

the belt is fine and turns the compressor but the bit on the inside does not turn which i would assume is the clutch?

a/c

hi there the a/c clutch has a two pin connector on the compressed body just behind the drive belt pulley if you remove the plug and supply power to one pin and earth to the other pin on the compressor (best with engine off and doesn't matter which way round + - )you should hear and see clutch engage if it doesn't the clutch isn't working . cheers Chris

I hae not done the live connection yet but will try it this weekend.

But on another note the blower has now stopped working also. It works on full or one under full but not on the lower settings so any clues on this wold be useful too

could be the resistor has blown as described in the thread at the top as "stickys"
