Ok .. so i fixed the blend door on our '97 XLT Explorer hoping finally we would have some A/C witrh the weather constantly in the mid-90's.
Still blowing warm!!
Arg.
After searching and reading threads on here and performing a few tests, the low-side pressure is over 100psi!
I'm sure its the low side as I know where both high and low connectors are and with it being 134a the gauge will only attach to the low side one.
**edit** I dont think the compressor is kicking in ... the magnetic clutch plate has stayed out and wont go in no matter what I do with any of the controls.
I shorted out the low pressure side switch and the Compressor kicked in, the temp inside came down and it seemed to work.
However, as soon as I take the short out and re-fit the plug to the switch the compressor refuses to start again, meanwhile the pressure on the low side again climbs to ~100psi.
Could the orifice tube be knackered ?
Or is it the low pressure switch is defunct, not allowing the compressor to kick in ?
Any help - much appreciated!
I'm pretty new to working on A/C as in the UK you never needed it.
Utah is a bit warmer ..........
