Best Air Conditioning Compressor

Hey folks: What is the best a/c compressor for a 96 5.0L? Motorcraft? Another brand? Thanks Mike

From the question I am going to assume you are building a custom A/C system and not wanting to use the stock compressor. In that case I'd vote for a Sanden as the best compressor.

Chris: No, I just want to replace my stock A/C system with a new compressor, other components/ necessary parts, ect..I will have a Ford Tech that goes to my church do it. I am after good quality parts and components. Price is not the issue, rather high quality parts and workmanship is most important. My 96 is a Limited Edition, if that makes a difference. Your compressor should be as fs-10 as best I know. I guess what you are asking is buy new or rebuilt and who are good rebuilders? Compressors are not like spark plugs, with different companies building the same one. You Can retro another type but the mount and connectors pose problems.

Good remans can be had a number of places. New is best if you have the $$. Unfortunately the fs-10 does not rate high marks, even new.

Good remans: Apcoair, Airpro, Visteon, and some others I am sure I have no clue about. Some spotty reman history: 4 seasons and factory air. Others may know of some problems with other companies. I hate to bad mouth anyone.

From what you are telling me, I would go with brand new. That means Ford.

New as in NOT rebuilt. It doesn't matter if its from Ford or Napa.
