I am intrested in buying a new K&N Filtercharger air cleaner for my 1996 Explorer 4.0 4x4. I just use throw aways for my older cars but from the sounds of it K&N is much better. I was wondering if anyone knew a website that offered this product and installation kit for my year of Explorer and if you could pass it on to me I would appreciate it. Also I've read about people 'drilling the box' or something to that sort, what is that about?

Thanks

Kubben,

I've noticed that performanceproducts.com has a lot of K&N stuff. Autozone and pepboys also carry them. If you get the replacement filter, drill one inch holes in your airbox all over the place. If you get the filtercharger kit, though, it requires that you remove your airbox anyway, and comes with special brackets to do so. Oh, to clear things up, the replacement filter is exactly that: the exact same size as stock. The filtercharger is actually a much larger filter that lets more air in.

Hope this helps!
