When I changed to air tem knob, there was clunk in the dash and the air flow through the dash vents stopped. How do I get the center dash off to find the problem?

Mine did not make any noise and the temp control works fine for both heating and a/c. However I cannot change the direction of the air flow. It seems to randomly blow through the different vents. Any ideas on how to proceed?

That bump sound coming from under the dash is a problem with the a/c. It was a part that was replaced for me under my warranty because of a Ford TSB issued. Here was the previous comment I made and talked about the a/c part...

"If needed I can verify when I get home but I believe the Ford receipt stated a new O-ring and accumulator, the costs for just those parts an installation was around $650, so not a cheap fix. I don't know if anything was actually wrong or broken but when I found the Ford TSB online I decided to bring it up and they said the warranty ppl would fix it."
