Hy guys,

we own our 97 Explorer 4.0 sohc for now about 25 years/ 275000 KM and many pairs of rear load leveling shock absorbers (Motorcraft, Monroe, and so on...)
find their way into my lovely daily driver. They last about 2-4 years, get rusty and lost their air, a new pair from Rock Auto lost the air at the top welding....
I am get rid of this circumstance and want to change to the Air Lift Kit 59514, seems the only one that fit in a 2gen Ex.

Unfortunately i was too slow in my decision, so now there were problems about avalability to get this kit.
Some sellers say unavailable, some did not ship to Europe, start a purchase request over bonvu.com,
everything looks like i get no chance to get this kit.

If anyone has an idea where to snatch this thing i would be very happy.
Maybe there are some other options with airbags and the use of good rear shocks
like Rancho/Bilstein/... ?
Happy to read some advice and kind regards

Wolfgang

I used a kit from a late 80s early 90s bronco. Much beefier, and kept the rear end off the bump stops with 1,000 pound tongue weights. The kit was from air lift.

it appears as if it is still availablle on amazon in the US at least, do you have someone you know out here? perhaps you can order it to them and have them ship it to you? Amazon product ASIN B000CFO08G
also as far as shocks, ive liekd the KYB gas ajust for a near stock but slightly firmer ride, one stop up the rancho rs5000 imo

This kit is available at Amazon Canada (Temporarily out of stock), but that dosen't matter.
Some seller have old things in their online shops and databases, but they do not
mantaine or update them contemporary.

This link goes automatically to amazon.com and the kit is not available.

Unfortunately i have nobody outhere, instead i have an US adress at Bonvu.com.
They try to purchse it for me, but they have no luck with 3 sellers, they say
the kit is still not available anymore, after some month of waiting.
I am sure that Air Lift doesn't produce the kit anymore, but i believe there must be a place
in a storehouse anywhere in America where to buy this kit.

I am also looking for suitable old parts for Mazda/Ford Ranger/Ford Bronco, but they are rare too.
And other parts doesn't fit very well, some welding would be required an so on, like the diameter
of airlines and fittings.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Sometimes things comes to a good end,
purchase was sucessful over BONVU.com

Some problems occur while installation, the rear end is a little bit too high (Warrior Shakles + Add-A-Leaf) for these
Air Lift bags. So i ordered some 2" spacers, but there is still much space between
leaf spring an bag mounting plate.
This will stress the bags, in this picture the rear axle is fully discharged.
If i set the car down on the tires, the mounting plates have contact with the leaf springs.
I think some limiting straps could fix the problem, what do you think?

A year ago and the bags have no issues until now.

Installed straps, axle to frame

Installed a stainless adjustable rod for rear ride high.

I think it was worth to do this conversation. The bilstein's did a good job too at the rear end.
The front end is too stiff with torsion bars screwed up, maybe a coil over conversion would fix this
and make a more comfortable ride?
Both upper control arms make squeeking noises now, some kind of pain to change them.
Shops here hate to allign the front wheels, is there any better option insted of using these
uncomfortable camber/caster bolts?

regards

Wolfgang
