Relatively new to the Explorer. I've only had mine since xmas 2000.
I recently did a brake job on mine- just replaced the front pads.
I turned of the air ride control in the back, like it says.

When I turned mine back on it kept running- for atleast 2 minutes before I shut it off again.
I didn't want to burn up the compressor.

Now it feels like my front end is up a lot higher than my back end.

Should I reset the computer? How do I do that? If that is even the problem?
Email me with any info you may have...Thanks!

Hmm, sounds like the front isnt high, but the back is low. If I'm not mistaken, the 98+ does not have 4 corner load leveling like the 95-97, but just rear.

You can try removing the battery termimal cables for 10 minutes or so to reset the computer. If that doesnt help you should have it looked at, probably a glitch in the computer that measures ride height.

There really isnt a computer for the air ride. It uses switches located in the airbags. you just happened to drain the bags when you did the brakes. just turn it on an watch the rear end, if you see it rise up then your OK. If not, check the hoses running to the bags, one may have come off.

Also if you had an air ride problem it would tell you in your message center in ther center console, right?

usually, that is about the extent of the computer. basicallyit just monitors the system. the rest is done by proximity switches located in the air bags. If some part fails or there is an imbalance in the system the computer will turn on the light and store a trouble code, but that is about the extent of what the computer does.

Thanks!

Thanks. The bags must have been fully deflated causing the back to ride low. Today it drove fine with no problems. I forgot all about the center console system check. I ran it today and it was fine.

Again...Thanks all.
