'99 Explorer Sport. The airbag indicator flashes a 3 - 7 code. The airbag code started flashing after I took the vehicle into the stealership (about a year ago). The reason I took the vehicle into the stealership was because of some sort of recall. Anyway...I was very upset at that time because the SAME thing had occurred at the SAME stealership about one year before that on my Aerostar. Turns out on the Aerostar that they had unplugged something.

I have searched under the drivers side dash looking for any loose or unplugged connections on my '99 Explorer Sport, but I can't find anything wrong. I don't know what the code means either. Where do I start? I want to get this fixed but I will NOT take it back to a stealership. Thanks,

hey cabbie,
you may be havin a fairly common problem.
this thread could help.

here is the short version.
there is a yellow plug stuck to the bottom of your seats, they are for the optional side airbags.
it seems the cap that closes the loop deteriorates and throws that stupid yellow light at you.
if you unplug it and plug it back in, it will go away for a while.
its not the easiest to get to and unplug, but you can figure it out.
it's one of those push and pull deals.
the more permanent fix is to buy the cap from ford...i think the part numbers you need are in that thread i linked.
