On my 1996 Ex where would I find the airbag crash sensors. I know they are at the front but where.
Also can or should I replace them myself ? Are they just plug in units ? Can I clean them. The flashing code apparently indicates a fault in one of them. Dealer wants $90. to plug it in and install a new one plus $174. for the parts ??
Thanks.

Follow the service manual diagnosis. They are in front of and to the sides of the radiator, just behind the bumper. They are not serviceable. $90 Sounds right for diagnosis and replacement. Those things are expensive!

I am not positive with Ford but with some vehicles, even if the system is all in check a code will still need to be cleared, but I think once every thing is correct you'll be fine.

Do this though, disconnect the battery for fifteen minuets before you dive into things.

The sensors are cake to replace though.

RiverRat has the correct location.
