I've been getting code "44" for my SRS/Airbag system and am due for an inspection soon. From what i've read here, code 44 is related to the Front-Right Crash Sensor - not mounted properly or high resistance to ground(?). Some have said it may just be corrosion between the sensor & mounting point. I think i know where it is and from what i see it's not easy to get to. Also, i know that the system should be disabled for a bit before i tackle the job (unhook battery and/or remove fuse). Is there a way to test the sensor to determine where the fault lies? How much is this sensor and where can i get one? Thanks for the help!

Air bags are a tricky area.
First off DO NOT use a test light at ANY point in an Air Bag circuit.
Any tampering you do with an air bag should be with the battery disconnected ( both positive and negative ) and let the back up discharge. Meaning wait fifteen mineuts.

The sensors are behind the grille and the header pannel. Removing them will make life much more simple. They will either have bright yellow connectors or some sort of yellow markings. Ford sensors are about an inch and a half squared box.

I had a Ford van with a simular code. I grabbed the sensor and put a small level on it and that took care of things.

Beyond that, an air bag code reader will be neccissary, and possibly a air bag simulator.
