I used a cut off wheel and cut off the front of the box, nice growl to it, seems to breathe better too. IMO I'd stay away from the swiss cheese mod but thats just me.

It might give you some gas mileage gains, but performance you'd see too little to even notice.

I used a dremel, and noticed a big difference. and it sounds awesome too. But i have the 4.0, not 5.0. I would imagine that the 5.0 would be a considerable difference too, but i could be wrong :banghead:

where exactly is my airbox. im just looking for a MPG gain, because these gas prices are getting ridiculous. if someone could show me what to do id be greatly apreciated. Im ordering my cold air, and i have a catback.

Help, thanks

Im, confused, if your ordering a cold air why do you need to modify your air box?

Lazzman, i didnt know what i was talking about. i thought they were different things. thanks to you guys who helped me out

You can just push the air silencer horn out of the airbox itself after you remove the filter. I couldn't get the horn out of the engine compartment without actually removing the airbox from the car to make room, so I just tucked it alongside the headlight and left it there.

This will effectively increase the diameter of the hole through which the air has to flow from about 2" to about 4". Can't say that I saw any increase in MPG though, and I track it on every fill up.

+ 1 MPG for me. I dremmeled the front behind the headlight and the fender wall side. Does let much more sound out.
