I have just finished searching through old threads to see if anyone know how to fix this problem. My alarm goes off after I lock my car, and its usually hours after I lock it. When I lock my car it only beeps once which I found out means that its not a door sensor. When I get in my car and lock the doors there is NO door ajar light on. This happened about a year ago and I fixed the problem by using WD40 on my door latches. How can I check the sensors to see if they are bad??? Im starting to think it may be a bad hood sensor. Am I better off disabling the entire system???

My parents had a similar, if not the same, problem. A new battery solved the problem.

i had the same thing happening found out it had something to do with voltage drop over a curtain period of time i.e. after you turn you x off in about an 1hr or so the x would kick into some kinda hibernation mode to not drain the battery so when you have the alarm set and it goes into this mode the voltage would change somewhere and would trigger the alarm. it took my car to car toys and i think they had to install some diodes or something. hope this helps

by the way is you alarm factory or aftermarket

check for a broken rubber adjusting tip on the the hood switch.

Check your hood switch - was the culprit in mine. I ended up just cutting the wires to the switch and then reconnected the wires without the switch. Now the alarm thiks the hood is always closed. Works fine for me - been over a year now.

Thanks everyone. Was a new battery for the keyless entry or for the vehicle the solution. I have a brand new battery in right now. Where are the hood switches located? When I popped the hood I saw two rubber pieces on either side of the latch. Are these the hood switches? Ironically my hood latch just went and I think my hood was not latched properly. I now have to manually open the hood so that may have been the problem all along.
