alarm system wiring

I have a question...I have a 93 xlt and was going to buy an alarm system to replace my melted stock one. the new one will have more options like remote unlock and stuff like that. Can i put this in my car. It has electric everything;doors, windows, seats. If anyone has done this or knows how, some help would be great, thanks....WILL

Yes, you can put it in. How to wire it up.. I've never done one myself so cant tell ya. I think it'd be pretty hard without a schematic of your truck.

usually you can get a wiring breakdown of the related wires from the place you bought the kit from. I know there are some on the net but I dont know the URL's.

Alarms are fairly easy. If it has remote start it can get a bit trickier.

I have installed many alarm systems and placing a full featured unit in a '93 is no big deal. There are many wires to contend with, but several will not be used (generic wire harness for mult vehicle platforms). As suggested by others specific vehicle wiring connectors can be purchased to make much of the install a simple "plug in" operation. These connectors plug directly into a vehicles stock connector location (making it hard to screw up since most if not all connectors are different) If specific connectors are not available or you don't want to use them then you will need to get a volt meter to test for power (12v) and continuity. You will need to get a vehicle wiring schematic to help ID the various wires you must locate. I say help since you will need to test the circuits with your meter to determine if the wire is the correct one. A good crimper (or I prefer a soldering gun and some heat shrink tubing). Most of the time involved installing an alarm is the uncertaintly of what exactly to remove (trim), how to get wires through the firewall and wheres the wires are located.
