I was looking for a really good alarm for my truck. I was thinking about one that has the two way capability. So I know if something is going on. I want Remote Start, Alarm, locks. I found one that you can buy pretty damn cheep. Well under $200.oo. Anyone ever used something like this?

What do you have and what kind of results have you had with it? Please give me any kind of input you can.

Thanks,

I know a guy that got that exact one off eBay, he says he's happy with it. It looks very cool. How it will perform on an Explorer is anybody's guess...

The alarm is only half the importance, the installer is what really counts :)

You can have the best damn alarm out there but if the installer is half-a!#@! it won't do you much good.

Yes, this would not be a do-it-yourself project persay.

The install is no problem. I have about 12 friends that are MECP and install DEI all day. I was just wanting to see if any one has every used an alarm like this? Thanks for the input on the install. I know a shoty install SUX!

I have one like it made by firstech. I had it installed about 2 years ago and have had no problems with it. It's a two way alarm, car starter, pager. It has a lot of cool features. the website is:

It is tricky to install with the explorer because of the chip in the key and all the electronincs it connects to. It took a professional installer about 5 hours to install. It costs more than what you looking to spend but i have no complaints about it. If you have any specific questions just ask me.

Thanks for the info. I really don't have a limit. I just saw that this one was on line and damn cheep. I don't care what the cost is as long as it works well.

What's the range of those 2 way remotes? Do they work well in a noisy city enviroment? thanks

The one i have has an optional external antenna which gives it a 1/2 mile range. without it its only 1/4 mile range. when im in a city i usally get about a 1/4 mile range with the remote. Otherwise 1/2 mile range is pretty consistent

hey black, you think you can inform us of what remote you get and how it works? i was considering the commander too, but wasnt sure.

Well I decided to just go with what I know. I got a DEI with Remote start, Alarm, and locks. As far a theft deturant I have four sirens in and on the truck. DEI has a siren that has a battery built in the horn its self and even if you cut the wires at the back of the horn it will go off and keep going off untill you destroy the horn completly. I have two of then mounted out of site under the truck in two seperate places. Then I have two of the 160 db piezo sires that are ear drum damaging sound. Those are mounted inside the truck one in front under the dash and one in the back hidden.

So if someone tried to break in my truck they would get an ear full. And four seperate sirens mounted all over the place would be better than the two way thing. Plus I have heard that they suck anyway.

Thanks for the input!

how much did the alarm cost, the sirens, and installation?
