Just a warning that anyone using Albany brake pads (Autozone) should check that they don't sell you mismatched rear pads. I tried replacing my rears on a 97 XLT to find that I could not because the notches on the pads didn't line up. When I returned them, ALL of their inventory had mismatched pads, and I had to get the Raybestos.

To check, put the pads facing each other (the inside pad has a "claw" like part, the outside has 2 clips), as if they were installed on the caliper. The bottoms of the pads should both have a U-shaped notch, and the top should have a half-U...this allows the bottoms to sit squarely on the slide, and the tops rock into place. If you have mismatched pads, the "U's" won't line up (they'll be on opposite sides), and you won't be able to rock them onto the slides properly.

I dont think I will ever buy a set of Albany brake pads again. They produce the most brake dust of any pad I have ever used...Ewww I hate brake dust...:(

I just did mine and they were from Albany, bought at Autozone and they were fine. I think the Albany breaks are good it's the people at Autozone that I'm not so sure about.

Hola Iam gona change my rear breakpads this weekend..

this is first time i ever done it on any car..(Allways hade Volvo b4 so I just chiped it in to service).

Swede-

It's as easy as an oil/ filter change. Just remove wheel, remove lower bolt on caliper, swing up caliper, compress piston with block of wood and C-clamp, and replace pads. Swing down claiper and put bolt back. If the rotors are grooved, you may want to get them cut, but on the rears, it doesnt matter much to me that they are perfect. Minor grooves are no big deal

While you are there, lift up the little rubber boots on the slide pins and make sure they are lubed well and ther is no rust. slide the caliper in and out with the pads off...it should move freely. If you need to grease, use the little $.99 packets of brake grease they sell. It is the silicone stuff Ford recommends. If the pins are really stuck, you may have to remove them and clean them. A can of brake cleaner is good to clean other stuff, like the slides.

I'd recommend the Raybestos pads over the cheaper Albany.

Advance Auto Parts has a solution to both your problems... Bendix Titanium metallic and Ceramic Pads....Not only do they out perform anything ive tried.... and i mean leave streak marks on the road in a awd 4 wheel abs truck... but they wear so slowly even under abuse..... I work for Advance auto and we offer a one time wear out replacement to....what most people dont realize is that a lifetime warranty doesnt cover wear out. these do .... i had a set returned yesterday that was 3 years old on a f-150 with 4x4 with over 77k miles just on the pads.... and they were just starting to get down to the metal... so in my opinion for 40-45 dollars ... cheaper than most top name stuff you can have the best and they replace it once for free......

www.advanceautoparts.com
you can look it up right on the site along with 1000's of other parts.... uses the same system we have in the store

Thanx for tipps :)

Albany Brakes at Autozone replaces it for LIFE for less than $18 without the hassle of shipping them. A better deal IMO.

you dont have to ship them back ... just bring them back to advance with the guarentee card that came with them... one of the biggest reasons i went with these in the first place is VERY VERY big reduction in the amount of brake dust.....
