I bought my 95 explorer used a few months ago. When I got it, the driver side window did not work, while the remaining 3 windows worked just fine. As I drove around, not minding that my window didn't work, one of the windows became stuck in the down position. Fast forward a few weeks and all 3of of the working windows are rendered useless in the down position. I had thought that the window motors were dead, so I purchased some replacement ones. Turns out that the driver window motor was unplugged, so I plugged it in, and it worked, so I was temporarily satisfied while my other 3 windows all had plastic bags covering them. One day, it was raining and I figured "oh, what the heck, might as well try them, and I was able to roll all of them back into their proper positioning. Now, my driver side window is stuck in the down position, while the others are all closed, and I know it is not the motors. Is this a problem with the window lock as I've read in some other posts?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if I have posted in the wrong place, or this topic has been answered already, I am sorry.

nope, instead you need to keep reading about the many posts of wiring issues in the driver's door post....:-)

Agreed! Just fixed our power window issues, broken wire in the wire conduit assembly in that drivers' door. In this case it was the power feed (blue/black) for all four windows, a lot of guys say that it's usually one of the black ground wires.

Thank you both very much!

Do you have any ideas where I should start? All of the posts that I have looked at so far, about 10-15, have similar issues, but none of them seem to be exactly what I'm looking for.

Open door, look for big round black thing with 10mm bolt in top, that is the wire connector. Undo bolt, it will force bottom part of connector down. Straighten it out, cut off wire tie around end, peel back boot. Find broken wire(s), repair, reassemble.

Thanks for your help.
I looked inside, but I don't believe I found what I was looking for. Is it in the area of the door hinge?

I apologize if my constant questions are incredibly easy to solve, and it comes off that I'm slow hahaha. I know absolutely nothing about automotive repairs.

EDIT: I did, however, find out that the rest of my windows work just fine, so I'm kind of confused as to why they keep phasing in and out. My guess is now, that my driver side window motor is dead.

Yes - open door and it is attached to the door between the door hinges. Do some searches for "door wiring" and you may be able to find a picture.

I checked all of the wires, and none of them seem messed up in any way, so I'm guessing that the motor for the driver door is dead. Thank you for all of your help.

I'm wondering if your switch isn't corroded.
