Alpine Subs & System Question

Does anyone have any knowledge/opinions about this: Alpine SBR-122CR I've seen it as low as $180!!


Also, is there any advantage/disadvantage to have your entire system only 1 brand name? (i.e. All Alpine, or all Kenwood etc.)

I have never heard one of those, but I'm sure with a decent amp it will sound pretty good.
As far as brand matching, I don't think it is necessary IMHO. I would be more concerned with bandwith coverage, I.E. making sure all your speakers combined are reproducing the widest range of frequencies. Some brands have features that do come in handy, like if your head unit is the same brand as the amp, you may have some abilities to control the amp from the HU. The only other thing I can think of as an advantage of brand matching is that sometimes it looks cool!!
I'm totally mixed, Panasonic HU, Pioneer 3-way 6X8's in the doors, JBL amp & Infinity Perfect 12.1 woofer.
