I'm considering getting a higher output alternator and switching to an electric fan setup. Firstly, I was wondering if anyone knows how many amps the stock alternator in my 2000 XLS (4.0L ohv) puts out. After that I would love the hear any and all suggestions for a higher output alternator and an electric fan. Ideally, the added resistance of the higher output alternator should be more than offset by switching to an electric fan. If you've done a similar mod then I'd like to know about how much you paid for all the parts as well.

Thanx in advance.

Stock Alt is 95amps. I am going thru www.MrAlternator.com to get my new one. They have 130a 180a (i think) and 200a for the explorer.

Hope this info helps you out.
