Well, I got everything finally installed including a new 8ga power wire directly from the battery to my amp but now I hear alternator whine.

I know this is common and I did a search for "alternator whine" and no hits. So my questions are:

What do I do?

If you suggest a filter, what kind?

Where should I put it? Close to the battery or close to my amp?

Thanks for all your inputs.

Before you do anything else, make sure that you have a good ground. The amp should be grounded to the bare metal chassis of the car. Somethimes that means scraping paint down to the metal at your grounding point. If your ground looks good, then try moving the ground wire someplace else. The majority of alternator whine cases is caused simply by a bad or poorly placed ground. Plus it's a free fix :)

peace

It could also be picking up engine noise if the wire is ran across majority of the engine.
