Well I plugged the ground loop isolator in at the connection just before the amp for my subs and that didnt work. I then pulled out the headunit and plugged it into the RCA's that come out of the headunit and that still didn't work. But when I was playing with all the RCA's for the subs, I pulled them out one at a time and everytime when I would pull the second one out half way the whine would get REALL loud. It is also in the speakers but just not as loud. Also when I first installed it the whine was a lot worse than it was now but then I re-ran the power wire and it lessened. I am clueless here and I really need help.

The diodes in your alternator may be bad!

I forgot to add that I connected the power wire up to the starter relay not straight to the battery.

You connected the main power wire that feeds both your amps to the starter relay? Connect that sucker right to the battery and don't forget to fuse it within 6 inches of the positive terminal. Let us know how that worked.

peace

I already have a fuse 6 inches inline but I don't have the tools to do it here at school unless someone wants to come here and help ;-) but if not then I will do it around Thanksgiving and let you all know how it goes asap.

I found some tools here and I moved the wire to the battery and it didn't really help. The whine is still there and I don't know what is going on. When I bought the truck it had everything but subs in it and it had power wires ran from the starter relay and the ground point was exactly the same as it is now except I upgraded the wiring to 4 gauge. At that same ground point now I have 2 4 gauge wires (one from my ground block and the other from my cap).

Hmmmm, well, the only thing I would suggest now is to move the ground point. Did the truck have the whine in it when you bought it? And did it have the sub amp as well, or did you add that when you added the sub?

peace

Mike

There was no whine when I bought the car but as soon as I hooked up the new system it started happening. When it first happened it was real bad but then instead of running the power wire across the engine and through the drivers side, I re-ran it down the passenger side instead and it pretty much went away. Now It comes and goes sometimes but now its been back ever since I got to school.
