Hello all...I'm new here and just bought a 93 Explorer EB. This truck came with an Alpine stereo and is wired to the stock speakers and amp. I am not new to stereo installs and have installed many in my day. When I bought the truck there was a loud alernator noise. As I read through the forums here I found quit a few people are having the same problem. I knew with everything being stock it wasn't an issue with the wires being ran and causing the noise. I tried grounding the HU to every imaginable spot with no luck. So I sat there and started to think what else could cause this? So I decided to check the factory wiring harnesses. In my situation there are two of them, one for the power and the other for the speakers. I first look at and reconnected all the power wires to insure a good connection, no luck still made noise. So the next step was to look at the speaker connections. I pulled the plug apart and what did I see? I saw that the post inside the connecter was bent and a couple were pushed out. I unbent the bent ones plugged in the connecter and push all the wires to insure a good connection. I then started the truck and WaLa that was it. So those of you who have tried everthing else go take a look at all the connections in the wiring harnesses. I hope this helps someone.
