After Market alarm isnt working properly,

These things are a pain to install and to understand, so many wires!

Anyone want to shed light on why my parking lights no longer flash when i unlock/lock my vehicle and my remote starter doesn't work (It makes all the noise, beeping, gives power to the car, just the engine doesn't crank)

Any ideas as to how i would fix this and what may cause it?

What brand & model number alarm do you have? More that likely you need to reset the alarm.. I believe on most models, you simply unplug the harness from the control box for 5 minutes to reset it. Also.. this isn't really considered an emergency, this section of the forum is dedicated to emergencies only like a truck not starting or something serious that is life & death.

I have a prestige alarm, but it's been so long since i've bought it that i can't remember what model number.

It has the screen remote, and every option that was available a tthe time, the most expensive alarm prestige made. Yeah, it was stupid i know.

Anyway, yeah sorry about my placement of the post but i didn't see a

"Aftermarket Alarm Forum" or anything similar for that matter.

My apologies.

I have some Additional questions:

Did you or a shop install the Alarm? (Helps me tailer my answers).

The parking lights..
When you turn the alarm on/off the lights should normally flash once for arm, and twice for disarm Correct? Do you hear the corresponding chirps as well (1 for arm, 2 for disarm, 3=problem)?

Does the Intrusion alarm sound normally when triggered?

How old are the batteries in the remote?
Did you have anywork done on your X prior to the problem?
Did you toggle the valet switch?

Thanks for your help

Circuit city put it in for me

1 for arm, 2 for disarm, 3 for most problems, 4 telling me my alarm had been triggered while gone

Does the Intrusion alarm sound normally when triggered?
Intrustion? Well if i know what you're asking i think the answer is yes and no. It seems less sensitive (say if i touch the handle) but if i hit the vehicle or pop the hood etc. it goes off normally

How old are the batteries in the remote? New
Did you have anywork done on your X prior to the problem? No
Did you toggle the valet switch? Nope

Do the parking lights flash when the alarm is triggered (the siren is blasting)? If yes then its a setup/programming issue. If no the siren is blasting with NO flashing parking lights then the wiring is suspect. If you find the model # then we can trace it back and might be able to obtain an on-line manual from AudioVox.
