I just installed new wheels on my 2003 Sport. All the wheels are identical in measurments. All the wheels look great on the vehicle, except for the Right Front sticks out about 1". The left side is fine. Is this the way the vehicle was built, or do I have a problem.
By the way, wheels are 20x8.5 +18mm offset.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

hey, welcome to the sight. did you check to see if the offset on that wheel is different. thats all i can think of.

That's gotta be it. Different Offset on one wheel. I was gonna say your eXplorer has a bent frame put I see you got a '03. You are a lucky man. :)

Nah that is normal, mine is the same way, along with Alec's (old) rig, and many others. That's just the way they were made.

Wow, had no idea... well, there is certainly nothing normal about that. Were they made that way for a purpose? Why didn't Ford correct the problem for the 3rd Gen.?

Thanks for the replys.

I am 100% sure that all the wheels are the same. I checked the backspace myself.

I am really suprised that this is normal. I'm considering taking it to the dealer and see what they.

It's one of those imperfection that its kinda hard to accept as being "normal".

Why? It doesn't hurt anything, and it really isn't that noticable unless you look for it. Although it is more noticable when you're lowered.

Dealer won't know anything, they can hardly tell a windshield wiper from a gas cap as it is. Mine sticks out a bit on the pass side too...

Yep, I guess you're right HARTMAN. It's just hard to not notice it now knowing it's there sticking out an inch.

I just started a new thread recently about the same thing. The passenger side wheel on my 96 2wd also sticks out further than the rest. However, I when I took it to the dealer, they told me it was my imagination.
