Having a 2 volt output is not going to be a problem. The advantage of the 4 volt or higher output deck is that it will have a lower noise floor. The higher voltage pre-outs allow you to turn the input sesitivity all the way down.
Unfortunately people try to use them as volume controlls thinking that the higher they turn it up the more power they will get.The only thing they get is more distortion at higher volumes because the amp is clipping.
If you are old enough to remeber the days when pre outs were .5 volts or lower you were always fighting the dreaded engine noise.

I will give you alittle of my back ground.
I started at at the age of 14 working for a friends dad who owned a GM, Ford, Chrysler and Toyota warranty center. We repaired factory radios, amps a did OEM upgrades for dealership. At 18 I was offered a job as a Installation Manager for a shop that did aftermarket stuff. We were a service center for Clarion, Pioneer Blaupunkt and a few more, so when thing were slow in install I would be in the Service center repairing amps and radios.
I have a 2 year Associates Degree in Electroincs and was 1 year away from my Bach Degree but I liked doing this and never finished.
I have gone through Rockfords Tech training and went through Mobile Dynamics training seminars. So you can say I have been in the industry for about 20 years.
