My old amp burned out since it wasn't enough power to handle my 2 Kicker l5 15" 2 ohm sub woofer. I was wonder what is the best amp to run with these two subs. I don't really want to push them to the max but close would be nice. They are wired parrel right now so keeping it that way would be great.

Thanks,
Joe

check out some of the hifonics. I swear by them. They are amazing amps and have a few choices so you can pick which one you need for your RMS values. You can get them on ebay for decent prices too.

Right I am not sure how many RMS they are I think they are like 750 Watts RMS and 1500 Watts Peak. So would I need an amp that can do 1500 watts RMS or just 750?

I thihk that would put me either this one

^ That is the amp I was running that burned itself up. I take that back. Its not the same amp but its pretty close to what I had. I only had room for 2 speaker hook ups.

Let me know what you guys think. I am on a budget since I still paying for my schooling and trying to save up for rims and other upgrades to my explorer as time goes along.

Thanks for your help.

The smaller one will most likely be good for you. You can get the larger one, but than you risk blowing a sub if you have it up to full power. The hifonics have very good overload protection so if you use the smaller one and push it too high you aren't going to hurt anything, just burn a fuse. I wouldn't worry too much about that though as you said in your previous post that you are not going to be pushing them insanely. I was able to power 2 older L7's with one 2000W with power to spare

Cool thanks for your help man. I think I am going to go ahead and order that when I get the money for it. I got so much going on right now! AHH!

No problem, good luck with it... and im a college student so i feel your pain about money haha

That amp is probably extreme overkill, but I doubt you would need a new alt. Also the remote is the hifonics base remote, not the remote power, thats why it looks like a phone jack ha

edit: what ohm are you running the subs at? at 2 ohms it would actually be ok.

I think Im am runnign at 1 ohm but I am not sure.

They are kind of ran like that but it was a 2 channel amp so I had it bridged. Far + side and the other was on the far - side.

I would like a tad more power than the subs to avoid over heating.

Would you mind to post a link to the amp that you woudl get for this setup? Thanks a bunch.

Joe

Are you sure of the RMS values you posted above? I just want to make sure I am not going to suggest something that will blow your subs haha. Also how you are running them i.e. 1 or 2 ohm makes a big difference.

Well I guess according to that diagram I am runnign at 2 ohms. I just bought the amp last night though that should do the job. HIFONICS BXi1606D 3200 WATT CLASS D MONO AMP AMPLIFIER.

Sorry about the all Caps but I didnt want to type that all in my-self.

Thanks for your help and I'll be sure to let you know how it sounds.
