Hi All, I'm installing an amp and subs that I got for Christmas. The issue is that the protection light on the amp flashes with the bass being output from the music and the sub(s) do not play.

I am using line level inputs, I tapped into the speaker wires in the backseat area right before they enter the tube into the rear doors. Could this be the issue? Where I tapped in?

Any other suggestions? I have 1 4 ohm connection as a test.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like "Clipping", the audio in is to high to be amplified. Is there an adjustment for the speaker level inputs?

Thanks for the reply,

Nope, no adjustments for the speaker level inputs.

I went to radio shack and walmart today looking for a line level converter, neither had it. Think this would solve the issue? Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Yes, it should solve the problem. I am having the exact same problem. I had my sub working for a few minutes and had some popping noises coming from the sub and then it quit altogether. I have to go buy a converter tomorrow and HOPEFULLY that will be the solution.

The line level converter did solve the issue, I had to turn the adjustments up about half way.

Hey, thanks for getting back with your results. That seems to be my problem then.

Thanks again!

Also check the gains on the amp, if set too high you will also get the clipping.
