I'd like to put the changer under the passenger front seat, but I don't know if it'll fit and the exhaust is on that side of the vehicle which will make it get hot.

Eh? Are you planning on mounting your amp on the UNDERSIDE of the vehicle? :-)

So you're saying the exhaust system heats the INSIDE of the cabin floor?

Only until you open your door, then everybody can see it. Being mounted up under the seat, you can't see it unless you kneel down and look under the seat.

I don't see any difference, due to space limitations, as to the ability to see or not see the amp whether mounted on floor or under seat.

I made a wood mock up of the size of an amp and taped it under the seat and looked and then taped it to floor and looked - I reaklly couldn't notice it in either place,

Yep. Go drive around for a half an hour then feel the floor under your passenger side seats. It'll be pretty warm.

Man, I can't say I ever noticed that. I've taken quite a few 150 mile trips and then unloaded a lot of stuff and never noticed excess heat.

Do you get sleepy when you drive? :-)

I did a 200 mile trip today and did feel under the seats front and rear; didn't notice any heating problem.

The floors won't be scalding hot or anything, just a little warm.

My bad on the earlier post. I was thinking in my head about an amp under the rear passenger seat getting some heat from the exhaust. Somehow I ended up typing about the CD changer. I think I've been on the board for too long. 8-)

In my first system I had an amp mounted where the stock amps and sub were. The amp was running at 2ohms mono and I never had any problems with over heating. As for what amp or what type of wiring that all depends on your speakers and how much power they need. A good power rating would be around 50 watts RMS to each speaker. With that much power all you would need is 8 guage power and ground wire...only go with 4 guage if you plan on upgrading to a more powerful amp (a much more powerful amp like 500 watts+) or if you plan on adding another amp for a sub or something. But as long as you stay under 500 watts guage will be fine.
