2001 Explorer with the factory subwoofer.

I tried hooking a line level converter to the front speakers but I have a nagging suspicion that with this setup, they have trimmed the lower freqs (that would normally be picked up by the factory sub).

Is this the case? The sub doesn't seem to have the lower freqs it used to. Would I be better off plugging into the factory sub's output with a line level converter?

Long story short, I am trying to hook in a pair of 10" JL Audio subs to the factory H/U. Where am I best to put a line level converter? I put it on the outputs for the doors and the lower freqs were definitely not there.

best bet will be to put it on the signal wires going to the factory sub

Ok...so grab the wires from behind the headunit right? Is that enough signal strength for the line level?

depends on where ur factory amp is. prolly in back under a quarter panel somewhere. thatll be closer to your ammp, the closer the easier

if your amp is good there should be a hi level input on the amp all you have to do is splice the wires going to you back speakers and run wires from the splice to the hi level inputs on the amp and your done you have to do it for both rear speakers
