I got a new Head Unit and it is being run through the factory amp. There is a lot of background static noise in between tracks (and during, its just harder to hear). Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks.

running new wires to the speakers will def fix... Aside from that most HU out there today will prob put out more power and sound better then running off the factory amp... Good Luck

if you dont want to run all new wires, just get the $10 factory amp bypass harness. it only takes a few minutes, and the sound will be much better. music will be louder and cleaner sounding.

To clarify the above, he means sound much better than with the stock amp in the loop, not much better than running your own wires. Sorry to step on your toes a little there, LJ, but just wanted to clarify that!

thanks for adding that :)

i didnt read my post after i typed it and didn't realize it sounded like that.

thanks JT

maybe you need to check that you're using the correct gage wire..

Leenjen - Where can you buy a amp bypass since my stereo is doing the same thing.

astrochimp - the 18 gauge wire that is stock is enough to handle at least 80 watts, probably 100.

you can get the harness from Circuit City or Crutchfield. some people on this site said Best Buy sells them too.
