I just installed my new sub and amp (12" Alpine type R and MRP-M500) wired to 2 ohms. I'm having a problem with the amp not staying on.

When I first turn on the car, the light will shine really bright, then slowly fade off. I'm getting just over 12V at the battery cable connection to the amp, and just over 12V at the remote connection.

Whats going on here? I check for pinched wires and I'm good on that part.

where do you have the amp grounded to? i would start there
also what size wire are you using and with what size fuse?

how's your ground? if you are getting steady 12v (check continuously when turning on as well) and your ground is steady as well then it is an amp problem.

I forgot to mention I was already wired up from a previous setup I had. So nothing really changed.

But I just fixed it about an hour ago. It turned out to be the fuse block coming from the battery, The terminals were broken loose so it didn't keep a solid connection. And would sometimes connect, sometimes not.

Bought a new fuse block and wired it in, and it works like a charm. :D
