Bought the 12 quart box of 5x30 and a bottle of their flush stuff. Previously since the truck was 10,000 miles old I've been running mobil1 tri-synthetic. Today I switched over. I changed the oil filter and put in a new cheap one(stp I think). I then put in the flush stuff, and the directions said to let it run at a fast idle for 15-20 minutes before draining. I brought it up to 1500 rpm and braced it there. I let it go for 15 minutes and was about to shut it off when I heard a screaching sound - loud. By the time I ran in the garage again it was gone - maybe about 2 seconds max.
Well, I drained the oil, no metal particles. Changed the filter to the amsoil filter, and put the new synthetic oil in.
Praying I didn't damage the engine, I started it up.
Well, it sounds fine. Prior to the oil change I had a tapping sound that wouldn't go away. At least in the trip around the block since the switch I don't have it. I'll report back on how it runs during the next few days.
Has anyone else experienced the screech when using the flush stuff, and did you have any problems afterwards?

was it a belt screech or something from the actual engine

I think it was from the engine. Not sure, didn't last long enough to determine. I was just coming around the side of the garage when it stopped.

probrally the ac clutch engaging did you have the defrost on at the time or the upper and lower vents on

Actually yes, I had the defroster on. But it doesn't normally screech, so I didn't consider that. Do you think it could have been that and not the engine? It was only like 3 seconds in duration. Its also about 15 degrees out right now. It might have been the belt but it's just so coincedental that I was flushing at the time, you know? I'm very worried about the motor, but only time will tell I guess.
