I had a friend of mine replace my old tape player with a new cd player that I bought. After he changed them out, the new cd player still didn't work and I could no longer roll up my front windows and the idle air control valve was faulty throwing codes to the computer as was the throttle position sensor. How should I go about correcting this problem?

....Your friend ruined your new CD player and, messed up your truck???

...You would think that your friend would have some idea of what happened and where...It could help finding the location of the short....

...Was this just a plug n play or did he splice wires???...Did he use any kind of schematic???...Have you checked all your fuses and relays under the hood???

welcome shane

After an intense interrogation I figured out that he didn't use and diagram and started splicing wires and let two touch and arc. He couldn't tell me which wires touched but now nothing works and I am sticking him with the cost of repairing it. I just need to know where to start. I was considering replacing the IAC Valve and the TPS, but I am not sure if that will help or be money wasted. I have checked the fuses and relays that I can find but I can't shake the feeling that there are some I am not finding. The only ones I found were under the hood on the passengers side in a black box.

...You will also have a fuse panel at the drivers side, end of the dash...It is tucked up between the parking brake and the hood release..

...Other than that, and pulling the radio out with your friend and having him replace it back like it was, I am not going to be able to help much...:(

...If you add your location, others in your area may be able to give you some better help..;)

Absolutely! Any help would be great!! I am in Mesquite, Tx.

...After you check the other fuse panel, and you and your buddy gets the wiring back to the way it was, Hopefully you will have it fixed...

...If not, this may get expensive as you might have shorted out some key components...Just don't panic yet....Getting the above mentioned items checked and fixed, comes first ...;)

Hi shane1477, these diagrams may help:

If you need something you can't find, let me know and I'll look it up for you.
Those docs in that link can all be downloaded as PDF files.

Did he use a wire harness? Or just spliced the stock harness from the stock radio??
