My rebuilt engine has nearly 20,000 miles on it now. And I was thinking of getting one of the bolt-on supercharger systems (BBK or Vortech). I have a 4.0L, I was told by a friend I'd have to buy new injectors and other various engine components? So after putting in about $3000 for the system, what else do I all need and how much am I looking at for other needed parts?

Alright here we go are you ready for this one..... NOTHING. Each of those system are meant to work with a stock motor. Any bolt on you puchase and install will ony increase the gains that you are going to get out of the super charger. I have become very familliar with the Vortech system as I will be installingone this week. The Vortech FMU is calibrated for 19lb injectors. It has a regulated orifice and diaphram which raises fuel pressure during boost. The kit the you purchase will come with a in line 155lph fuel pump wich also raises fuel pressure to compensate for the higher cylinder pressure. I would recommend that you get a new TB if there is one available, MAF and an Apten of course. If you decide that you are going to add on other bolt ons that will increase your power output. It may be necessary to go to 24lb injectors if you are going to exceed 80% duty cycle on the 19lb injectors. The 24lb injectors will require you to recal the FMU.

FMU?

Oh so I'll have to take the FMU to a dealer to reprogram it or a new one or what?

The fmu is just a diafram. You can get disks for it to change the calibrations yourself. Vortech sells them.

fuel management unit is alot of times a type of inline fuel system aide. Some kits have inline pumps that pull more fuel, some of the systems raise fuel line pressure and are usually adjustable

he's got a 92, which is return-style. the FMU will just pinch off the return line to raise pressure.

almost all kits come with inline pumps to boost volume while the fmu makes more pressure by restricting the return of the fuel.
