annoying noise...

hey everybody, well everyone knows that the summer is coming to a close and its time to turn off the ac. (in some places) well when i turn off my ac, sometimes it starts doing this high pitched noise.... like a bomb is about to go off. but its not only when its off. it also does the same noise with defrost. any suggestions? anything serious? please help...

Vacuum leak under dash somewhere? Most of the heater and AC ducts are controlled by engine vacuum.
