I found a guy that makes custome harnesses for the 5.0 swaps hes making mine right now. He charges 300 but he provides everything includin the o2 harness and injector harness for the 5.0

I'll post his e-maill address for everyone once i have the harness and let you all know how it works out for me.

please let me know if you can do some harness for me my explorer is 99 eddie bauer.thanks. vanomy@msn.com

You might try asking Ped5Stang what they would need for the harnesses. Midwest Mustangs deal exclusively in 302 Explorers, and Mustangs. I have an order in for the ARC system, and I'll be getting the interior harnesses.

Basically there are three harnesses in the Explorer. There is an underhood harness, a dash harness, and a rear body harness. The engine, trans etc. have smaller wiring harnesses.

Adding the V8 to an early Explorer will require a lot from the front two harnesses, and a few wires going to the back. If the harnesses could be had reasonably, the factory wires could be pulled to make the needed adapter harness. Good luck,

vanomy, for a 2nd generation V6 Explorer, you could plug in the factory V8 harnesses into your vehicle. You would need 99-01 V8 operating system parts. As long as you get the right year range(96-98, or 99-01) of wiring, you can use the V8 wiring to make it work.

In 1999 Ford changed to a returnless fuel system, so you would need to use the same year type of V8 parts as your vehicle. There is probably little difference in the interior harnesses of the V6 and V8 Explorers. Schematics will be required to plan any changes. Good luck,
DonW
