I have searched many post on this site but am having a hard time narrowing the cause of my problem down. I have some ideas but would like some other opinions from you guys. Any help would much appriciated. I have a '92 Navajo, my check engine light comes on very briefly (for 10 secs or less) after I have been driving about 5-10 minutes. Sometimes at stop lights my idle will drop way down and has stalled a few times, and when i press on the gas (to the floor) the truck will hardly go (no more than 10 mph, if that much) and I can hear the muffler popping (i forget what this is called). I turn the truck off and restart it everything is fine until I come to a idle again. Sometimes it just hesitates at lights then takes off. It seems to happen more when the gas tank is less than half full. But that doesn't I am getting no fuel smells. When others have these FPR or O2 sensor problems does your CE light stay on?? Any help is appreciated....

Oh yeah, will doing a read of the computer still give a code even if the CE light is just flashing on for a few seconds????

try maf or o2 sensor

OK, thanks. I know you just answered practically the same question twice. Just seemed the symptoms were slightly different then the other case so I started a new thread to make things clearer then posting my question right under someone else's.

hey
jim is right..start by checking the maf and o2's.

After you clean/replace anything with the fuel/exhaust system remember to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for about 10 mins.

BTW....next steps will be FPR and cats..

The codes for this problem are not accurate.

I hate to sound dumb, but what is an FPR? Fuel Pump Relay? (shrug) i dunno

FPR = Fuel Pressure Regulator
