Another check engine

Have a 94 xlt 4x4. The check engine light comes on and goes off multiple times a day driving around town and long distance. Is there a way to get the codes by making the check engine light blink? I had a 91 camaro and was able to get the check engine light to blink the codes by bridging two electrical ports under the hood with a piece of wire. Is this posable with my truck? If so how would I go about doing this?
